Robert Redford’s Children
Scott Anthony Redford
On September 1, 1959, Redford and Van Wagenen gave birth to their son Scott Anthony Redford. On November 19, 1959, Scott passed away suddenly from SIDS. He was 2 1/2 months old.
Rarely does the actor discuss Scott in the media. Redford, though, gave his first son’s passing some thought in November 2017.
I was only 21 and my wife was 20. He told Esquire, “I was just starting my career in New York; we were just starting our lives. It was undoubtedly traumatic, and I’m not sure how it will manifest itself in the future. We have to manage it. You must continue. We also welcomed additional kids. However, something of such nature is not absolutely discounted. You’re not aware of all the little ways it possibly manifests itself.

Shauna Jean Redford was born to Redford and Van Wagenen on November 15, 1960.
Shauna earned her art degree in 1985 while studying at the University of Colorado Boulder. James Redford
David James “Jamie” Redford, the second child of Redford and Van Wegenen, was born on May 5, 1962. James grew up in New York and spent his summers at his family’s residence in Utah, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
James was identified as having primary sclerosing cholangitis as an adult, a condition that damages the bile ducts and liver. In 1993, James underwent two liver transplants. After his operations, he was motivated to start the James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness, a nonprofit organisation whose mission was to inform the public about organ and tissue donation. With his 1999 film The Kindness of Strangers, he carried on that aim by narrating the experiences of organ donors and receivers.
James attended the University of Colorado Boulder, just like his older sister. Before earning his master’s in literature from Northwestern University, he pursued a degree in creative writing and film as an undergraduate. These degrees served as the cornerstone for James’ career, and he quickly fused filmmaking and environmental and social activism to create and direct a number of documentaries.

At CU Boulder, he met Kyle, the love of his life, and the two were wed in June 1988. Son Dylan and daughter Lena were later brought into the world, and they relocated to Marin County in California.
James acknowledged that while his father’s last name helped him advance professionally, being a Redford also has drawbacks, as he explained to HollywoodChicago.com in 2016.
At the very least, “there can be no debate that I’m in a unique situation,” he told the publication. But the name, I believe, has presented challenges in addition to times when it has been useful. At the end of the day, my goal is to demonstrate my worth by my labour or product, just like everyone else. This statement that there is no net gain has really been proven to be true.
The Redford Centre was founded by James and his father in 2005. “After years of working to promote sustainability and protect wild places, my son James and I recognised the power of storytelling to bring light to important issues, which is why we founded the nonprofit,” said Robert Redford.
Kyle Redford, James’ wife, revealed on Twitter on October 16, 2020, that James had passed away at their Marin County home from bile duct carcinoma in his liver. Jamie passed away today. We’re devastated. He had a lovely, significant life and was well-liked by many, she wrote. “I will miss him terribly. As his 32-year-old wife, I’m especially appreciative of the two wonderful kids we raised together. Without them throughout the last two years, I’m not sure what we would have done.
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, the director’s cancer was found in 2019 when he was awaiting a second liver transplant.

She recalled, “As a little child, I saw my dad’s filmmaking process and the remarkable array of personalities that came together to make it happen. “I discovered that I was intrigued to the creative and mobile existence that indicated.

“It was actually easier to figure out when to direct a movie and have a baby than it was to figure out when to get married,” she said to the Observer. Before divorcing, the couple welcomed a set of twins, a subject she discussed with Ageist in 2022.
Amy responded when asked what it was like to be a single mother: “I would say there’s sort of a cost and reward in many respects. It’s really simple to accuse someone else of something.
Amy moved to Salt Lake City where she works as a filmmaker and broadcasts a podcast called Scrappy Broads after living in New York City and Los Angeles.

Redford told the Associated Press, “He brought up the idea to me in California.” “That sounds like a pretty interesting idea, I said when they first proposed it. I’ll take on whatever role you want me to, so just do it. Then they said, “Okay, you’ll play the dolphin voice.” I’m at least not a whale.
Dylan joined his grandfather at The Redford Centre when he was little on November 23, 2020.
The Redford Centre posted on Facebook, “In this time of great transition for our country, Dylan will co-lead The Redford Centre in redefining the future of impact-driven storytelling as a vehicle for environmental justice, protection, and repair, advancing the mission and legacy of the Redford family.

Twin girls who are Eden’s two siblings were born to Amy and August in November 2010. She cited “motherhood” as her greatest struggle to date in an interview with Her magazine in May 2016.
