Mumbai Attacks

Sandeep Unnikrishnan was a member of the NSG team that was dispatched to Mumbai in response to the terrorist attacks that occurred there in November 2008. Sandeep guided his group into the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which the terrorists had taken over. He played a crucial role in the liberation of multiple captives and the destruction of the terrorists. The Ramamurthy Nagar Outer Ring Road intersection in Bangalore features a bust of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, and the Indian Education Society entrance on Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road in Mumbai also has a bust of the general.

Sandeep Vihar, an army housing complex in Whitefield, Bangalore, has also been named in his honor. To honor Unnikrishnan’s legacy, a bust of him has been placed in the middle of the housing complex.
