Historia ya Simba na Yanga -Yanga and Simba were founded in 1935 and 1936 after a conflict between the leaders of the two sides. Yanga is the oldest team in Tanzania, it started in 1935 when Simba appeared on the side of Yanga after the conflict and formed another team called Sunderland.

The goal is not to mention the history but to remind them which teams have won the championship of Tanzania mainland since it was recognized and called the main league of Tanzania mainland.

The Tanzania Mainland Premier League was officially established in 1965 after four years of Tanzania’s independence and that’s when the league was established.

Yanga and Simba have won the championship more times than any other in mainland Tanzania.

A professional football team named Simba Sports Club is headquartered in Tanzania’s Kariakoo Ward in the Ilala District of Dar es Salaam.

It was first known as Queens, in honor of Her Majesty, the Queen of England, when it was founded in 1936 as a breakaway club from another dominant football side in Tanzania, Dar Young Africans. The club underwent a number of name changes, starting with Queens, then Eagles, Sunderland, and eventually Simba (Swahili for “Lion”) in 1971.

Young Africans Sports Club, also known as Yanga, is a professional football team from Tanzania with its base in the Jangwani Ward of the Ilala District in the Dar es Salaam Region. The club, which was established in 1935, holds its home matches at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Temeke District’s Miburani district.

The team made history on Sunday, April 30, 2023, when they defeated Rivers United Club of Nigeria 2-0 on aggregate and advanced into the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal round, becoming the first football club from Tanzania to do so in the history of any Confederation of African Football (CAF) competition. After defeating Marumo Gallants 4-1 on aggregate on May 17, 2023, Young Africans created history by being the first Tanzanian team to advance to a CAF Confederation Cup final. They will now face USM Algiers from Algeria in the Cup’s Finals.
