You run the risk of having your application for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) award rejected if you give inaccurate information in your submission.

The information that you provide to the South African Social Security Agency will be checked for accuracy by the Department of Home Affairs (Sassa). This data includes your identification number as well as your first and last names and your surname. Because of this, it is imperative that the information you offer in your application for the SRD award be correct.

If you have gotten married or divorced during the time that this award is being paid out to you, your surname may no longer be correct. It’s possible that this has changed as a result of you getting married or being divorced.

According to Sassa, it is extremely important to verify your marital status and make certain that your surname is spelt correctly at the Department of Home Affairs. Your application for the SRD award could be denied if you do not comply with these requirements.
